About Me

How I Work

As your therapist, my first priority is to develop a reflective, collaborative space and relationship with you where you feel safety and trust, and able to make informed choices. Together we will be curious about what has brought you to therapy, what you need to have heard, what is getting in the way of the life and sense of self you would like to have, and how you can feel more empowered.

I am a relational, integrative, trauma-informed therapist. This means that I don’t exclusively use one type of therapy. I consider whether you have come to therapy because you have a drive to change,  or are struggling with particular issues, or whether you wish to understand your own history and how it is influencing your present experience. I then draw on the most appropriate techniques for you and your goals. These techniques include Depth Psychology, Compassion Focussed Therapy, Somatic Integration and Experiencing Techniques, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Object Relations Theory, Schema Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing.

In working with trauma I use these techniques in an integrated emotional,  cognitive and somatic (body) based approach appropriate to each stage of recovery. We work together to regulate and process the traumatic stress reactions and strengthen your nervous system’s capacity to soothe and contain, stay present and be at rest when appropriate. The clinical healing relationship facilitates you in developing appropriate and boundaried vulnerability, from a strength-based  foundation, that allows meaningful and healing connection with the self and others.

A Little Bit About Me

I’m lucky enough to live near the ocean, and love to swim as often as I can. My Indigenous heritage is very important to me, and I often express it through weaving and painting. I am also very conscious of my own need for ongoing development and growth, so participate in many practices and activities around this aim.

Experience and Practice

I am a Clinical Psychologist specialising in trauma, emotional dysregulation, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Radically Open DBT, personality disorders, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and Complex Developmental Trauma.

In addition to being a psychologist I am also an experienced psychotherapist who has worked with individuals and couples and provided clinical supervision, training and external consultation to a number of agencies and teams.  These have included numerous Indigenous Community and Health Services, Women’s Health Centres, refuges, Specialist Domestic Violence Services, Neighbourhood Centres, Family Support Services, Child Protection Services, Aftercare mental health and housing teams, Court Support Services, and Drugs and Alcohol Rehabilitation Services.

I also have an ongoing interest in education, and am an Academic Fellow at the University of Western Australia. I work in Curriculum Development and lecture in Indigenous Psychology, Decolonising Psychology, and Cultural Safety.
